Regional leaders recognized for significant service to Scouting


At the recent 24th APR Scout Conference, many individuals across the region were presented with awards as a way of recognizing their significant services and contributions to Scouting. The awards are in different categories, one of which is the APR Award for Distinguished Service, the highest regional Scouting award. The award symbolizes outstanding leadership and exceptional service to the Scout Movement.

Awardees for the distinguished service are Mr John Ravenhall (Australia), Alex Wong (Hong Kong), Mohamed Ali Khalid (India), Reiko Suzuki (Japan), Dr Arthur Francis Small (New Zealand) and Dr Yongyudh Vajaradul (Thailand). The Meritorious Award was conferred for the first time and the first recipient is Dr Kang Young Joong of Korea for his substantial contribution to Scouting.
Also at the Conference, World Scouting conferred the Bronze Wolf to Yoritake Matsudaira (Japan), Habibul Alam, (Bangladesh) and Scott Teare (USA), while former Regional Scout Committee Chairman Jejomar C Binay received two highest national Scout awards: Silver Tiger from Bangladesh Scouts, personally conferred by the Chief Scout and President of Bangladesh, His Excellency Zillur Rahman and the Silver World Award from Boy Scouts of America.
For his 11 years of dedicated service to world Scouting, Regional Director Abdullah Rasheed received a special plaque of appreciation from WSC Chairman Simon Rhee and Secretary General Luc Panissod and the Silver World Award from Boy Scouts of America.
Many Scout leaders were given the Certificate of Good Service for having performed significant tasks while serving their National Scout Organizations and/or the Asia-Pacific Region in various capacities.
