World Scout Moot Canada 2013 - by the youth, for the youth

Today is the International Day of the Youth. The World Scout Moot 2013 has started in the right earnest a few days ago in Awacamenj Mino campsite, an hour away from Ottawa in Canada. World Scouting’s flagship event for 18-25 year old Scouts, the Moot, is proving to be a new opportunity to test the strength of the Scout Movement’s programme for young adults, of its educational capacity and its unwavering commitment to contribute to "Creating a Better World."

This event is focused on young people aged 18 to 25 years. Young people have the ability and the potential to impact the society in their respective countries immediately after their return and lead positive changes that our times demand.
More than 2,000 young people from 82 countries have traversed the world to meet in Canada in the middle of a beautiful and impressive natural setting. The large gathering of Scouts here demonstrates that there are differences of all kinds, but also showcases that young people are finding their similarities in tastes, needs and interests, reaffirming the value of dialogue and respect as the only way to build a lasting peace as advised by the elders of the First Nations (indigenous community of Canada).
This is what Scouting has done for over 100 years and that will continue forever. The Moot continues until the 18th of August.
